1. What distinguishes between an emergency and a non-emergency?
A medical emergency is an injury or illness that is acute and poses an immediate risk to a person's life or long-term health and it's extremely important to attend to these patients immediately. Emergency case means an acute injury or acute illness that needs immediate or life-saving treatment at the Hospital.
Non-emergency cases examples are as follows:-
Monthly Medication Refills: Patients needing regular refills of their monthly medications.
Follow-up Visits: Patients needing to follow up with a doctor to discuss ongoing treatment or review test results.
Reviewing Reports: Patients needing to show medical reports or imaging results.
Medical Certificate for Reimbursement: Patients needing a medical certificate for reimbursement purposes, such as for insurance claims or work-related purposes.
Time Constraints: Patients who are unable to consult a doctor during regular outpatient department (OPD) hours due to time constraints but don't have an emergency situation.
