As part of PCOS Awareness Month, the Institute Hospital, IIT Hyderabad, in association with Dr. Reddy’s Forum for Health Education (DRFHE), organised a Wellness and Awareness Session on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) on 24 September 2026.
The session was conducted by Dr. K. Gayathri Reddy, Gynaecologist, who addressed key aspects of PCOS, including early signs and symptoms, menstrual and hormonal health, lifestyle and nutrition, preventive measures, management, and common misconceptions. The session also introduced the newer terminology PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome).
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, providing participants an opportunity to clarify their concerns and seek guidance on PCOS and women’s health. The programme was attended by approximately 200 participants, including IIT Hyderabad students and employees, faculty and staff members, campus community members, and students from DAV School.
The programme was supported by the Institute Hospital team comprising Dr. Baishakhi Chandra, Pulmonologist; Dr. Sonia Naik, Paediatrician; Senior Physiotherapist Ms. Vedavani; Ms. Aruna C., Nursing In-charge, IITH Hospital; and hospital office staff Mr. Manikanta and Mr. Subhani.
The session served as a meaningful initiative towards promoting awareness, early recognition, appropriate management and preventive healthcare related to PCOS, while encouraging young girls and women to adopt healthy lifestyle practices and take proactive care of their health.
