TB Free India - 100 Day Campaign 2026 Conducted at IIT Hyderabad

As per the directions of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, the IIT Hyderabad Hospital Team actively participated in the TB Free India - 100 Day Campaign 2026.

The TB Free India - 100 Day Campaign, under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, is a nationwide initiative of the Government of India under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), aimed at accelerating efforts towards eliminating tuberculosis through awareness, early detection, timely treatment, and community participation.

The campaign at IIT Hyderabad was organised by the Hospital Team under the leadership of the Institute's Designated TB Nodal Officer, Dr. Baishakhi Chandra. As part of this national initiative, a series of awareness programmes were conducted to educate and engage the Institute community on various aspects of tuberculosis prevention and control.

The major activities undertaken during the campaign included:

  • Poster Making and Speech Competitions (17 July 2026): Students enthusiastically participated in poster-making and speech competitions on the theme of tuberculosis awareness, encouraging young minds to contribute towards spreading awareness within the Institute and the wider community.
  • Extensive TB Awareness Campaign and Ni-kshay Pledge: TB awareness messages and the online Ni-kshay Pledge were widely disseminated through Institute-wide announcement emails, the Institute website, social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, digital display systems, banners, and notice boards, ensuring maximum outreach and community participation in support of the national TB elimination mission.
  • TB Awareness Seminar (27 July 2026): The Institute's Designated TB Nodal Officer, Dr. Baishakhi Chandra, delivered an informative Awareness Talk highlighting the symptoms of tuberculosis, preventive measures, the importance of early diagnosis, treatment adherence, TB elimination strategies, stigma reduction, and various Government initiatives available for TB patients.

During the seminar, Dr. Sai Prashant Goud spoke about the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative, a Government of India programme that encourages individuals, institutions, and organisations to provide nutritional and social support to TB patients, thereby strengthening community participation in the fight against tuberculosis.

The Honourable Registrar, Shri V. Venkat Rao, and the Hospital Faculty In-charge, Prof. Viswanath R. R. S. R. Chinthapenta, delivered encouraging messages to the students and the IIT Hyderabad community. They congratulated the winners of the student competitions, appreciated the efforts of the Hospital Team in successfully organising the campaign, and commended the Institute's active participation in the TB Free India - 100 Day Campaign 2026.

The campaign concluded with a Closing Ceremony, which included a TB awareness session and prize distribution to the winners of the student competitions. The successful completion of the campaign reaffirmed IIT Hyderabad's commitment to the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and its continued support for the national goal of achieving a TB-free India.
